‘SharkFest’ returns this summer, celebrating 10 years of the National Geographic-spearheaded, shark-focused event and featuring almost 30 hours of original programming and more than 60 hours of enhanced content.

For the first time ever, ‘SharkFest’ content will run on all Disney platforms, including Disney+, Hulu, ABC and ESPN, in addition to original homes National Geographic, Nat Geo Wild and Nat Geo Mundo.

Starting on July 10, every premiere for the strand will be available on Disney+ as content rolls out across Disney’s linear networks over the course of the weeks-long event, including “best-of” specials and series from over the years that will be available on Hulu.

This year’s line-up boasts new original content diving into details on over 15 different shark species, and features footage from the Galapagos Islands, Costa Rica, Australia, Hawaii, South Africa, the Maldives, California, Massachusetts, Maine, Florida and more. The slate will also include the broadcast premiere of Shark Beach with Chris Hemsworth on ABC and kid-friendly programming on Disney XD, such as Camo Sharks and Maui Shark Mystery.

ESPN will get in on ‘SharkFest’ with the premiere of the species competition specials Game of Sharks and Great White vs. Tiger Shark, while ABC will premiere ‘SharkFest’ specials from the past 10 years in July and August.

Other premieres include Backyard Bull Sharks, Sky Sharks, Counting Jaws, Shark Queens, Shark Attack Files and Shark Side of the Moon. A new FAST channel will also be available, featuring over 80 episodes through the ABC app.

Additionally, National Geographic has partnered with Minorities in Shark Sciences (MISS) to encourage diversity and inclusion in the shark sciences field and inspire the next generation of researchers. This collaboration lends MISS experts as on-screen talent for this year’s ‘SharkFest’ event, as well as consultants for programming and development of shows.
