National Geographic Documentary Films will present the television broadcast premiere of climate change documentary Paris to Pittsburgh from Emmy Award winner Sidney Beaumont and Emmy-nominated filmmaker Michael Bonfiglio.

Produced by RadicalMedia in partnership with Bloomberg Philanthropies, the film will chronicle the impassioned efforts of the individuals leading the charge in the battle against climate change. Set against the national debate over America’s energy future — and the Trump administration’s decision to exit the Paris Climate Agreement — the film explores the social and economic impacts of climate change-fueled disasters throughout the U.S. and the ways in which Americans are responding.

Featured in the film are local leaders and everyday Americans who embody a variety of stories of climate-related recovery and resiliency. The doc also analyzes the innovative efforts made by Pittsburgh, led by Mayor Bill Peduto who stood up to defy President Trump when he announced the U.S.’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement, to reduce carbon emissions of the former boomtown, which was previously reliant on coal.

Other locations featured in the film include Puerto Rico, California, Iowa, Florida and New Jersey.

Paris to Pittsburgh will debut across Nat Geo on Dec. 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT in the U.S., and will air globally in 172 countries and 45 languages.

Paris to Pittsburgh is executive produced by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Joe Berlinger and Jon Kamen for RadicalMedia and Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Katherine Oliver. Executive producer for National Geographic is Matt Renner.

The film is produced by Beaumont, with co-producers Lindsay Firestone and Katie Dunn. Antha Williams of Bloomberg Philanthropies’ environment program served as a consulting producer.

Bloomberg Philanthropies and RadicalMedia previously collaborated on the critically acclaimed documentary, From the Ashes, about the legacy and future of the coal industry in the U.S.
