Set against a backdrop of an evolving society, Hamid Sardar’s Taiga uses one man’s story to frame a larger discussion about the relationship between man and nature. Mongolian nomad Purevjav is a hunter, who has always had great respect for the animals that nourish him and his family, even as some of them prey on the sheep he herds. But, with the promise of a handsome reward, he raises a few wolf cubs to sell them for their pelts – a decision he later sees as a violation of his relationship with the natural world around him.
