Warner Bros. Discovery and Channel 4 have unveiled a variety of unscripted series that the companies have recently commissioned in the UK.

Warner Bros. Discovery UK has commissioned four new shows confirmed for the media giant’s UK linear channels HGTV, Quest Red and Really, as well as Discovery+ UK. First up is The Big Body Clinic (8 x 60 min.) from Full Fat TV, which features “weight-inclusive” experts treating patients with larger bodies who are often scared to seek help because of the weight stigma they’ve faced. The series will launch on Quest Red next spring.

Coming to Really in 2023 is The Edinburgh Auction House (8 x 60 min.) from STV Studios, which follows a fifth-generation auctioneer as she helps people clear out their homes, sift through their personal possessions to find objects of value, and then secure the best possible profit for them at auction.

Also on the way for WBD UK is a pair of new home-renovation series. Slated to premiere on HGTV later this year, the True North–produced My Dream Derelict Home in the Sun (16 x 60 min.) showcases people buying derelict properties in some of the most beautiful parts of France and Spain, and attempting to turn them into dream homes while dealing with challenges like Brexit and the pandemic.

Lastly, dropping in 2023 is Derelict Rescue (10 x 60 min., pictured) from Air TV, which follows some of Britain’s most ambitious home builders as they take on the country’s most rundown and unusual buildings, from an abandoned railway station to an old schoolhouse.

All four series were ordered by Clare Laycock and commissioned by Charlotte Reid. The executive producers for Warner Bros. Discovery are Matt Reid, Romy Page and Louise Brown.

Meanwhile, Channel 4 has commissioned Manchester-based Purple Productions to produce a pair of new series, Britain’s Most Beautiful Road and A Cotswold Farmshop.

Britain’s Most Beautiful Road (4 x 60 min.) will explore Scotland’s spectacular North Coast-500 route during its busiest season. With exclusive access to the Highland Council and its new ranger team, the series will follow the people and the businesses behind the NC500, as well as the challenges that come with maintaining one of the top road-trip destinations in the world.

A Cotswold Farmshop (6 x 60 min.) focuses on Gloucester Services, its staff, visitors, and the local community it serves. The famous grass-roofed station was built in 2014 and is run by the family behind Tebay Services, which was the subject of a previous Channel 4/Purple Productions collaboration, A Lake District Farmshop.

Britain’s Most Beautiful Road was commissioned by Clemency Green and A Cotswold Farmshop by commissioning editor Deborah Dunnett, with Jane Handa the commissioning executive on both. Pam Cavannagh and Dympna Jackson serve as executive producers on both series, which are distributed by All3Media International.
