Georgia Brown, Amazon Studios’ director European originals, has been added to this year’s Edinburgh TV Festival keynote lineup.
Taking to the TV Festival stage for the first time since joining Amazon Prime Video, Brown (pictured) will outline her content strategy and commissioning wish list, while also revealing what’s in the pipeline for the SVOD service throughout Europe.
Brown joined Amazon Studios in 2017 from FremantleMedia International and served as the studio’s first hire outside of Los Angeles. In the two years since, Brown has established a team at the London Prime Video headquarters while also growing a team of seasoned executives in the rest of Europe in an effort to boost local productions, like the forthcoming four-part docuseries on German football team Borussia Dortmund.
During her more than two-year tenure at FremantleMedia, Brown served as EVP of content and co-productions where she oversaw acquisitions for FremantleMedia International, the company’s distribution outfit. Prior to this, she was SVP of acquisitions at Shine International over a three-year period, where she worked on such unscripted hits as MasterChef and One Born Every Minute.
Brown has also previously served as commercial manager at BBC Worldwide where she managed rights acquisitions and early investment on programming that included Africa, Natural World and Top Gear.
The session will be produced by Hannah Demidowicz, commissioning editor at TCB Media Rights.
The 2019 Edinburgh TV Festival runs Aug. 21-23 in Scotland.
