BBC Studios has appointed Hannah Wyatt as genre director, factual entertainment and events.

In her new role, Wyatt will oversee the creative, commercial and operational strategy of the business, and will sit on the BBC Studios’ executive committee.

Wyatt’s leadership of the factual entertainment and events arm will involve overview of  Top Gear, Auntie Productions – an unscripted division within BBC Studios – and events such as Festival of Remembrance, Cenotaph and Passchendaele. She is also tasked with developing new fact-ent formats.

In July, BBC Studios split its entertainment, music and events divisions into two distinct arms: factual entertainment and events, and entertainment and music.

“I had a very clear idea about who could lead this incredibly important part of our business and am delighted to attract someone of Hannah’s experience and caliber to BBC Studios,” said Mark Linsey, BBC Studios director, in a statement. “I’ve always admired her entrepreneurial, creative and strategic approach and think she will bring renewed vigor and do wonders in driving our business forward.”

Wyatt currently works as managing director at FremantleMedia’s Boundless. She joined the prodco in 2014 as creative director, and was upped to MD the following year. Her credits at Boundless include The Apprentice, Grand Designs and Love in the Countryside.

Prior to Boundless, Wyatt worked as director of programs at Mentorn Media.

Wyatt’s start date at BBC Studios has not yet been determined.
